WhatI have noticed is that the oil does not have to be a full quart low, even half of that will trigger the low oil signal. If the low warning comes on, then the sensor is signaling something. If a new sensor gives you the same warning after 1500 miles, then I would recommend adding 1/2 quart and see if that turns off the warning.
