10. billet muffler end cap, the stock one size is ridiculously small and power robbing. my dealer tried to fit a 2021 SX and XC oem muffler on the 500 but they changed the mounting bolts, so you are stuck with buying a ktm powerparts muffler that is also restricted (road legal) or just swap endcaps 11. I have a new 2014 KTM 500 XCW, same issue with metal chips/flakes. I immediately called. dealer and spoke with service manager. He says this is totally normal with this particular bike and is why they say to change oil often and clean all screens including magnetic plug. Metal chips will lesson with oil changes.

Dude, go get yourself a 500exc or fe501s. The maintenance requirements are totally blown out of proportion by clowns & haters who think that KTM's are elitist toys. The 500exc isn't much worse than a 690 on the highway. The 500exc is dramatically better off-road. Larger fuel tanks are way cheaper for the 500 too.
The amount of oil depends on how high you want the oil level. You won't need any more than two litres (it's handy to have a spare bottle if you only use a litre). KTM recommend the oil level to be between 120-90mm from the top of the forks (measured with spring removed). The easiest way to get the right level in each leg is to use a syringe
